The American Physical Society (APS) has honored Yale’s original Sloane Laboratory as a historical site in honor of Dr. Edward Bouchet.
Earning his Ph.D. in Physics from Yale in 1876, Dr. Bouchet became the first African-American to earn a Ph.D. at any American University.
The Yale League of Black Scientists offer a special thanks to Professor Jack Harris who led the effort to prepare and submit the nomination to APS.
